The Hermitage (Dunkeld)The Hermitage is a folly created by the Dukes of Atholl in the 18th Century.It was built above a spectacular waterfall on the River Braan. Around the hermitage are some of the tallest trees in Britain and a beautiful informal walk up the riverside through woodlands with the sound of tumbling rapids in your ears provides a wonderful experience. |

JM Barrie’s BirthplaceIn nearby Kirriemuir, the house where J M Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan, was born has been preserved as a wonderful museum. The upper floors are furnished as they may have been when Barrie lived there. The adjacent house, No 11, contains an exhibition – The Genius of J M Barrie – about Barrie’s literary and theatrical works. The outside wash-house is said to have been his first theatre. |
